MARGARET LOCKLEAR - Deemed "The
Mother of Poetry" in the Baltimore/Washington
area. Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, she is a
resident of Baltimore City. She has been placed in
the status of such poets as Gwendolyn Brooks,
Sonia Sanchez, Maya Angelou just to name a
few. She has had a long time affair with the theatre world. She found her love for the arts while a student at Morgan State College. She has performed at such venues as the 2001 National Black Theatre Festival, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where she received ovations each night she performed. She has appeared at the Great Blacks in Wax, Eubie Blake Cultural Arts Center, Catholic High School in Baltimore, Borders Book Store, Gaithersberg, MD, Arena Players as well as venues in the Washington, DC area She has also worked with the Baltimore Playwrights Festival. She has also been

cast in Haile Gerima's (of SANKOFA fame) new upcoming movie: She is currently traveling with her two one-woman shows - as SOJOURNER TRUTH in "Meet Ms. Truth" (a Contemporary Look Life Through The Eyes and Soul of Ms. Sojourner Truth) and BRIGHT MOMENTS.   It is her dream to develop a unique cultural
arts program in Baltimore for area young people, as well as own her
own Coffee-House.   She is currently filming for a short film by Cay Templeton,
independent filmmaker out of Towson University called "Long Past
Life ... " in the role of "Aggie". She is also going to be featured in
a major motion picture currently being filmed in Baltimore called
"Piazza Palace". She is also featured in "MAAFA-FIRE IN MY
BONES" doing several parts. She also hosts a new poetry venue.
called "The Jazz /Heritage Hour" the first Friday of every month,
where she features other poets and jazz musicians in the Baltimore
area.   "(These are the memoirs of a lost soul who found God.)

"Well now that I have gotten rid of a lot of meconium at 50, I am
now free to roam the Universe.
